Guidelines for Full Paper Submissions


Article structure


Word count, Font, Text Spacing

Submissions should be between 5,000-8,000 words (not including footnotes), and be in Calibri/Arial/Times New Roman font size 12. Text should be single spaced.

 

Use of numbered sections

Sections in your paper should be clearly marked and numbered in a logical progression (eg 1, 2, 3 for main headings, followed by a, b, c for first-level subheadings, and i, ii, iii for second-level subheadings, and so on). 


Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line.

 

Appendices

If there is more than one appendix, they should be identified clearly as Appendix A, B, etc. Similarly, tables and figures should be clearly denoted, eg: Table 1; Fig. 1, etc.

 

Essential title page information

The paper title should be concise and informative, as titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.  

   

Author names and affiliations

  • Within the article: Please provide full names and affiliations for all authors. Where the family name may be ambiguous (e.g., a double name), please indicate this clearly. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address.

  • Corresponding author:Using an asterisk (*) clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing, publication and post-publication. Please provide at least the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and such other contact details (address, telephone number etc) as you may deem necessary.

 

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements may be included either in a separate section at the end of the article, directly before the references, or as the first footnote to the paper. If you are including this as the first footnote, it should be marked separately from the regular footnotes (with an asterisk *) and appear above the regular footnotes. If your paper was funded by a grant, scholarship, or endowment, please include this information in your acknowledgments.

 

Author Bio

You may provide a short author bio for each author (this is optional). This should be no more than 150 words per author, and should be placed at the very end of the article, after the references. Content could include, for example: research interests, current roles, publications.

 

Abstract

A concise and factual abstract of between 300 - 500 words is required . The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. Non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but if essential they must be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself.


Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 10 keywords, using English (U.K) spelling. Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field should be used. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes, and will help your paper to get located more easily by other researchers (if published).


Abbreviations

Define abbreviations and acronyms that are not standard in this field in brackets following the first use of the term. Thereafter, only the abbreviation/acronym should be used throughout the paper. Ensure consistency of abbreviations throughout the paper.

 

Footnotes and References

Footnotes should be used appropriately. Number them consecutively throughout the article, using superscript Arabic numbers. An authoritative and comprehensive guide to referencing is provided in the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities ('OSCOLA') published by the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. The Harvard Citation system may also be used. You should use Ibid. and Op.cit. where appropriate. If a reference has more than 3 authors, list the first 3 authors followed by 'et al.' If there are 3 authors or fewer, all author names should be listed.

 

Web references         

As a minimum, the full URL should be given together with the date when the reference was last accessed (this is to provide clarity in the event the weblink becomes broken or unavailable). Any further information, if known (author names, dates, publication details etc), should also be given. 


Ensure that the following items are included in your submission:

One author has been designated as the corresponding author with contact details:

  • E-mail address

  • Full postal address (optional)

  • Telephone number (optional)

All necessary files have been uploaded, and contain:

  • Keywords

  • All figure captions (if any)

  • All tables (including title, description, footnotes) (if any)

Submission of your paper to the ICFLP does NOT constitute publication and does not preclude your submission of the same paper to any academic or professional journal of your choice.

Selected full papers presented at the IeCFLP may be considered for publication (with the consent of the author/s) in The CRELDA Journal, a refereed journal by the Centre for Research in Law and Development in Asia (CRELDA) at Taylor's University.
